Past. Future. Even present time. All of them holding hands, sharing the same space where dreams have come true. Mankind greatness in its greatest expression. Not only a pleasure for all the BMW fans but for those who love… perfection.

Monsaraz (Alentejo, Portugal) is a tiny village located on a mountain’s summit close to the lands irrigated by the Guadiana river near to  la raya (local word to refer to the borderline between Spain and Portugal in that area). Surrounded by a stone wall, I would describe it as citadel more than a fortress. The labyrinthine arrangement of their streets and its 7 churches lend to this citadel a mysterious atmosphere with some secrets kept just around the corners.

I would say it was a perfect day but what the hell!, no doubt it was. After CRD’s founder and friend Pedro Garcia invited us for breakfast at El Diamante, we leap over our motorbikes and the wild bunch headed to Jarama Race Track where the vintage festival took place. It was a nice sunny day of october, the temperature was perfectly standable riding on the motorbike or walking among the classics with the camera.

It was my first time in this event and I was pleasingly surprised by the atmosphere, the organization and the profile of the public in general, a quite balanced mixture of tough guys, classic and vintage lovers, refurbishers and world champions like Agostini and Nieto.

In some way, for those like me who have been in touch with motorcycles since an early age, walking among all these jewels was like a time travelling.

Memories arised from the inside out.

Ooooh man, it was summer of 1993, I was 15 years old (young!, very). My father just got me this wonderful, even perfect, XR for my birthday. A whole new world opened in front of me since I took my first ride on a motorbike with 7 years old.

Things were different at that time, and I am not selling you that things now are worst or better, but at that time things were just different and you understand what you want pals.

I just need a picture like this to share with you my understanding of those years. If you focus on some details you will see a helmet, which I borrowed from a friend and that time it wasn’t mandatory to wear it when riding on the road so imaging off road. I was wearing regular boots and cargo trousers and some black tee. Safety in this case was not first, was just behind fun…

This picture had to be taken during the first days because I remember that tail light did not last too long and had to be replaced for a strong one.

“I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.”
