Any of the events that take place at Bonneville Salt Flats would not be possible without all the people that put their hearts, time and money into it.  They believe, so do we.

No matter who you are or what brings you to Bonneville, you may be part of the staff, press, volunteers, owners, drivers, sometimes even their pets!, accidental travelers… once you tread on the salt you are part of it and you will not want to step back. I can tell.

I met this guy during the World of Speed. He was quite a character. I would be lying if I say that I remember his name and I know it sounds awful when you don’t remember the name of someone you have met while travelling but it is the way I am as a traveller to forget names if I don’t write them down in my notebook. The thing is that we chat a couple of times those days on the salt. He didn’t drink, it waked his demons up, and to whom not? I thought. He lived with his mother and during his travels he slept in a small custom caravan built up by himself.

We met again by chance a few days later in a car show in Delta (Utah).  He was in a car wash polishing his car and it was then when I noticed the sticker and what it prayed. I immediately understood that he was not crazier that those who are lost in their own lifes without travelling.

This first picture has been the first one taken by me published in a magazine. Because of that I am eternally grateful to Kristina Fender.

“I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.”

— Revelation 6:1-2 NIV

There I was. Having followed precisely all the indications provided by Irish Muph, I got off of I-80 at exit 4 and filled up my tank at the iconic Sinclair gas station, right next to the Salt Flats Mexican Cafe. I turned on the BMW and I moved forward to The Bend in the Road and a little bit further the so dreamed Bonneville Salt Flats. The feeling was so intense, so pure, so exiting that I could even smell the gasoline in the air… until I realized that my gas cap was opened and some gasoline drops where landing in my face. I was finally at Bonneville Salt Flats.
